Requesting the West Virginia Division of Highways to name the three lane stretch of U.S. Route 60 from Ona Elementary School to Yates Crossing Road in Ona, West Virginia, the "T. A. Chapman Highway".

Whereas, T. A. Chapman was born on May 4, 1917, on Saunders Creek to Allie and Cassie Chapman, and currently lives in Ona, West Virginia; and
Whereas, T. A. Chapman had to give up his formal education after completing only the fifth grade, but refused to allow this lack of formal education to keep him from achieving his dreams; and
Whereas, T. A. Chapman eventually started his own company, T. A. Chapman, Inc., and developed it into a multimillion dollar underground utilities company; and
Whereas, T. A. Chapman developed a plow that buries telephone cable underground and his concept is used to this day by companies across the United States; and
Whereas, T.A. Chapman has had a profound economic impact on Cabell County and the State of West Virginia, both through the jobs his company has provided and through the improved phone communications his company has helped to provide to cities around the State; and
Whereas, T.A. Chapman, throughout his eighty years of living, has touched and blessed the lives of Ona area residents through his business, his church support, his generosity of time, money and the countless pounds of beef he has raised and given away to others; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the West Virginia Division of Highways is hereby requested to name the three lane stretch of U.S. Route 60 from Ona Elementary to Yates Crossing Road in Ona, West Virginia, the "T. A. Chapman Highway"; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Commissioner of the West Virginia Division of Highways, the Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Transportation and the Governor of West Virginia.
